You have a couple options when it comes to Medicaid in Arizona. The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCS) and the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS). While ALTCS is primarily set up for people over the age of 65, they both have similar medical and financial requirements. Your current financial situation will determine how much you will need to pay pocket for services (our current residents pay anywhere from $500 - $1500 a month). For more information on these financial and medical requirements, you will have to speak with a representative. We have some local office locations and phone numbers listed near the bottom of this page.
It typically will take about 45 days to get approved and on one of these Medicaid programs. Sometimes if there is a safety issue, they may be able to push the application through a little quicker. Some of our residents have gone out of their own pocket for the full amount for the first month or two, then shortly after their Medicaid benefits go into effect. Keep in mind that if you spend the money on care, they will take those additional expenses into consideration.
